South Caucasus Pipeline’s daily average throughput up

During 2019, the daily average throughput of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) was 29 million cubic metres of gas per day, Trend reports with reference to BP Azerbaijan.

This is while, during the year of 2018, this figure exceeded 23 million cubic metres of gas per day.

In 2019, SCP spent about $48 million in operating expenditure and about $34 million in capital expenditure in total, as compared to about $39 million in operating expenditure and about $352 million in capital expenditure in 2018.

The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Turkey in June 2018.

The SCP has a dual operatorship with BP as the technical operator being responsible for construction and operation of the pipeline facilities and SOCAR Midstream Operations, as commercial operator, responsible for the commercial operations of the pipeline.

The SCP Co. shareholders are: BP (28.8 percent), TPAO (19 percent), AzSCP (10 percent), SGC Midstream (6.7 percent), PETRONAS (15.5 percent), LUKOIL (10 percent) and NICO (10 percent).
