Iran installs new equipment at South Pars field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 10

New equipment was installed on the Iranian 14D platform of the joint Iran-Qatar South Pars field (this field is called in Qatar - North Dome), Executor of the project for the development of the 14th phase of the field Mohammad Mehdi Tavassolipur said.

“The installed equipment was manufactured by the Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA) and weighs 350 tons,” Tavassolipur said, Trend reports referring to Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company.

“The weight of the connecting bridge is 241 tons while the flare is 109 tons,” the executor of the project added.

Tavassolipur added that after completion of all work, daily production on the platform will increase up to 14.2 million cubic meters of gas.

The platform is planned to be commissioned till the end of the year (March 21, 2020).

Presently, platforms 14A, 14B and 14C produce a total of 42 million cubic meters of gas daily.

According to the plan for the development project of Phase 14 of the South Pars gas field, daily gas production will be increased up to 50 million cubic meters, gas condensate – up to 75,000 barrels, sulfur – up to 400 tons, liquefied gas and ethane – up to 1 million ton each.

The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field have reached 51 trillion cubic meters of gas (36 trillion extractable).

Presently, 630 million cubic meters of gas may be extracted from Iran's South Pars gas field daily.

After new platforms are commissioned at five phases (13, 14, 22, 23 and 24), gas production volume will increase up to 680 million cubic meters a day.
