Procedures for selection of construction company for creation of gas distributing networks in order to supply gas to settlements of Kazakhstan’s Akmola region are underway in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

Mamin made the statement responding to the inquiry of deputies of Kazakhstan’s Majilis (lower house of Kazakhstan’s Parliament) on the topic of acceleration of gas supply to country’s Akmola region.

Thus, Mamin reminded that the construction of the Saryarka pipeline was finished on Dec. 27, 2019 with a subsequent put into operation.

“Currently the first phase of the construction of gas distribution networks has been developed in order to connect Nur-Sultan, Akmola and Karaganda region to the pipeline, which has completely passed non-departmental examination and received a positive review,” Mamin said.

He added that the construction of the gas distributing networks in Nur-Sultan and Karaganda region started in autumn 2019. The construction in Akmola region wasn’t started due to the late receipt of the state examination report. However currently, he said, the issue has been dealt with already and Akmola region’s akimat (administrative center) is holding procedures to select the construction company.

Mamin also said the Akmola region’s akimat submitted budget inquiry to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy for funding of gas distributing networks from the country’s budget in 2020.

“The inquiry will be submitted for a review of the country’s budget commission during the first 2020 budget update. Implementation of second and third phases of Saryarka pipeline is also being developed to supply gas to country’s northern regions,” Mamin said.

Saryarka pipeline, which starts in country’s Kyzylorda region, will supply gas to country’s capital, as well as central and northern regions.

Following full completion of the project, citizens of Nur-Sultan. Karaganda, Temirtau, Zhezqazghan cities, as well as about 2.7 million people living in 171 nearby districts will be supplied with natural gas.

The official ceremony of pipeline’s construction launch was held in Dec. 2018. In Jan. 2019, mobilization of equipment and workers started, and pipeline welding started in March 2019.

Some 1,061 km of pipeline, five gas distribution stations and one gas measuring station were constructed within the framework of the project implementation.
