Benzene, paraxylene export volume by Kazakh Atyrau refinery revealed

The volume of benzene and paraxylene export manufactured by Kazakhstan’s Atyrau refinery exceeded 12,000 tons and 76,000 tons in 1Q2020 respectively, representative of KazMunayGas (KMG) national oil and gas company told Trend.

The complex for aromatic hydrocarbon production built within the framework of the Atyrau refinery modernization is able to produce over 133,000 tons of benzene and 496,000 tons of paraxylene a year.

The KMG official said that the volume of paraxylene exported in 1Q2020 amounted to 76,063 tons. Some 30,164 tons were exported in Jan. 2020, 17,307 tons were exported in Feb. 2020, and 28,592 were exported in Mar. 2020.

In turn, the volume of benzene exported in 1Q2020 was 12,992 tons. The volume of benzene exported in Jan. 2020 was 5,510 tons, in Feb. 2020 the volume was 2,121 tons, and in Mar. 2020 the volume was 5,352 tons.

Earlier this month, KMG said that benzene and paraxylene manufactured by company’s Atyrau refinery have receive international REACH certification and thus may be exported to the EU countries.

KMG is Kazakhstan’s operator for exploration, production, refining and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state interests in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan.
