Electricity generation at thermal power plants (TPPs) of Azerbaijan from January through April 2020 amounted to 8.4 billion kilowatt hours, which is 189.2 million kilowatt-hours more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the report of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the report, electricity generation at hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) decreased by 120.2 million kilowatt hours compared to the same period of last year, and amounted to 341.8 million kilowatt hours.
The indicator for other energy sources (wind power stations, solar power stations and household solid waste incinerator) increased by 0.8 million kilowatt hours, reaching 119.7 million kilowatt hours.
Meanwhile, 34.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity were generated at wind power stations, 13.4 million kilowatt hours at solar power stations, and 71.8 million kilowatt hours at household solid waste incinerator.
Electricity generation by Azerenerji OJSC surpassed 7.9 billion kilowatt hours in the first 4 months of 2020. Herein, over 7.6 billion kilowatt hours were generated at TPPs, and 295.9 million kilowatt hours – at HPPs.
The State Energy Service of Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic generated 114.1 million kilowatt hours. Meanwhile, 62.7 million kilowatt-hours were generated at TPPs, 39.9 million kilowatt hours - at HPPs, 11.5 million kilowatt hours - at solar power stations, and 796.8 million kilowatt-hours - at other power plants.
In 1Q2020, Azerbaijan’s electricity export amounted to 500.6 million kilowatt hours, which is 116.4 million kilowatt hours less compared to the same period of 2019. Meanwhile, electricity import of Azerbaijan decreased by 7.5 million kilowatt hours, compared to the same period of last year, amounting to 44.7 million kilowatt hours.
