Turkmenistan strikes deal with UAE company to boost gas production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas State Concern will cooperate with Turkmen Petroleum Products Trade DMCC of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to provide services that would increase country’s natural gas production at 30 wells operated at Turkmenistan’s Dauletabad Gas Field, Trend reports with reference to Online Newspaper of Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan.

This was stated in the Decree signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The president's Decree authorized the Turkmengas State Concern to conclude a contract with the above-mentioned company.

Dovletabad field is located in Turkmenistan’s Mary region. It was established in 1982 with initial gas reserves of 1.3 trillion cubic meters. This field was the main source of Turkmenistan’s gas exports in the 90s of the 20th century. For now the produced gas at this field is sent both for domestic consumers and for export supplies.

In general, Turkmenistan is exporting its natural gas to China and Russia. The construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline will further diversify the country's gas exports.

Turkmengas State Concern deals with development, production of natural gas and gas condensate fields in the territory of Turkmenistan, its preparation and processing, as well as transportation of natural gas to consumers in the country and for export.
