BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21

By Eldar Janashvili - Trend:

The volume of gas production in Azerbaijan amounted to 13.4 billion cubic meters from January through April 2020, which is 1.8 billion cubic meters more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports on May 21 referring to the country’s Ministry of Energy.

Meanwhile, about 47.8 percent (6.4 billion cubic meters) of the gas produced accounted for Shah Deniz field, and 34.3 percent (4.6 billion cubic meters) fell on the share of the block of Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) fields. According to the ministry, gas production by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) accounted for over 20 percent (2.4 billion cubic meters) of total production.

In the first four months of this year, a part of the recovered gas (34.3 percent) in the volume of 4.6 billion cubic meters was transported for export, which is 13.5 percent more than from January through April 2019.

More than three quarters of exported gas in the volume of 3.5 billion cubic meters (an increase of 23 percent year-on-year) were transported to Turkey, of which 1.3 billion cubic meters accounted for TANAP. A little less than a quarter in the volume of 1.1 billion cubic meters was exported to Georgia.

Since the commissioning of TANAP, over 5.1 billion cubic meters of gas were transported as of May 1, 2020.

In total, from the moment of commissioning, 293 billion cubic meters of gas were collected from the block of Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli fields and Shah Deniz field, of which 81.6 billion cubic meters were exported.
