Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas State Concern has planned to diversify the production capacity of the Kiyanli polymer plant, Trend reports with reference to online newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan.

Turkmengas opened a second tender for the construction of an isobutene production unit at mentioned plant this month. Turkmengas opened a tender for the diversification of natural gas use at this plant for the first time in March of this year.

The production capacity of this plant allows processing 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and producing 386,000 tons of high-density polyethylene as well as 81,000 tons of polypropylene. After extracting ethane and propane from the natural gas used for the manufacture of these products, the remaining 4.5 billion cubic meters of commercial gas are sent to the gas pipeline system.

According to the source, the plant is supplied with equipment that was purchased in Japan, Korea, the US, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and other countries.

LG International Corp and Hyundai Engineering as well as TOYO Engineering Corporation implemented the project to build the Kiyanly polymer plant, that cost $3.4 billion.

The polyethylene and polypropylene manufactured at this plant is both exported as well as sent to the domestic market.

According to the 2019 US Reports and Data analytical agency, it is expected that the global market for isobutene will grow to $34 billion by 2026.
