Azerbaijan's gas export to Turkey soars

Azerbaijan exported 924.2 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey in March 2020, which is 19.63 percent more compared to the same month of 2019, Trend reports citing a report posted on the website of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

In March 2019, Azerbaijan’s gas export to Turkey amounted to 683.2 million cubic meters.

In general, Azerbaijan's share in the structure of Turkish gas imports in March 2020 amounted to 23.45 percent compared to the indicator for March 2019, which was 17.98 percent.

According to EPDK, the total volume of natural gas imports to Turkey in March 2020 exceeded 3.9 billion cubic meters, decreasing by 8.27 percent over the year. In March 2019, this figure was equal to more than 4.2 billion cubic meters.

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Gas Pipeline. In accordance with the contract, Turkey annually buys from Azerbaijan 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas produced at the Shah Deniz field.
