Azerbaijani refinery in Turkey considerably boosts export, import volumes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1

The total volume of petroleum products manufactured by the Star refinery of Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR in Turkey stood at 488,753 tons in March 2020, Trend reports citing Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

In the reporting month, the total volume of crude oil imported by Star refinery amounted to 848,148 tons, which is 33.4 percent more compared to March 2019 (565,019 tons).

The total volume of diesel fuel exported from the refinery in March of this year amounted to 225,181 tons, which is 19.8 percent more than in March 2019 (180,399 tons).

The opening ceremony of the Star oil refinery took place on October 19, 2018 in Izmir, Turkey.

The total refining capacity of the refinery is 10 million tons, and SOCAR acts as the main supplier of the crude materials for the enterprise.

The refinery allows to significantly reduce the dependence of Turkey on imports of petrochemical products.
