One of the most important areas of activity of Azerbaijan’s State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources is the establishment of alternative energy supply in remote settlements, villages, and localities, Jamil Malikov, Deputy Chairman of the agency told Trend.
Malikov said the use of the traditional gas supply system in these territories is economically and technically impractical.
Therefore, in this direction, the agency’s employees selected 12 pilot projects in villages of the country’s different regions such as Lankaran, Guba, Shaki-Zagatala, Samukh-Shamkir, said the deputy chairman.
He said that the agency is preparing proposals on the possibility of using alternative energy sources within these projects.
Presently, Azerbaijan is taking sequential steps to develop alternative energy. For this purpose, negotiations are underway with foreign companies and investors, including the companies from China, the UAE, the US and the EU.
