BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 8

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

An operation has been launched to inject acid (well acidizing) into wells to increase production from 8th phase of Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (this field is called North Dome in Qatar), this is reflected in the information of the Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.

According to the report, upon completion of this operation, gas will be produced continuously from this phase for two years.

“In total, gas production from this phase of South Pars gas field will increase by about 800 billion cubic feet (22.6 billion cubic meters),” report added.

According to the report, upon completion of 8th phase, the operations described in Phases 6 and 7 will be carried out.

“Over the past two years, the operation of adding acid to the wells (well acidizing) of the 4th phase of the field has been successfully carried out,” report said.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. At present, Iran's daily gas production from the South Pars gas field is more than 700 million cubic meters. Iran has so far spent $33 billion on projects related to the South Pars gas field. This gas field supplies 75 percent of Iran's gas. Iran has 24 phases in this field.
