SOCAR Ukraine to open new facilities by end-2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

SOCAR Energy Ukraine, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, plans to open several new facilities by the end of 2020, SOCAR Ukraine told Trend.

The company said that development plans have slightly changed amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“We have been planning to open a new gas filling station in May. Now we have postponed it to the second half of July. But everything will depend on the situation in the country. We plan to launch a number of facilities by the year-end,” said the company.

The main activity of SOCAR Energy Ukraine is to improve the network of filling stations and organize wholesale of petrol and oil products in the territory of Ukraine.

SOCAR’s representative office opened in Ukraine in 2008.

The company acquired about 20 Tala-Nafta filling stations in Odessa and Nikolaev regions, as well as Svitanok large oil depot in Odessa region in 2009.

The company took control of the fuelling networks ONIO (four filling stations in Kyiv and the region) and GFC (in Lviv region) in 2010-2011. SOCAR received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase 26 filling stations and one tank farm of the Kalina group in August 2012.

The company operates 60 filling stations in Ukraine, as well as two “Baku-1” oil bunkers in Kyiv and “Ganja” in Odessa.

The company has also been engaged in the trade of natural gas in Ukraine since late 2016.
