Russia’s Hevel Group is currently in the process of implementing various projects in Kazakhstan, the right for implementation of which was received in 2018 and 2019, Hevel Group representative told Trend.

In May 30, 2020 Russia’s Hevel Group commissioned Nura solar power plant (SPP) with the installed capacity of 100 MW in Kazakhstan’s Akmola region, making it one of the largest solar power plants in the CIS region.

Nura was the first SPP project commissioned by Hevel outside Russia. The SPP construction work and project implementation were financed with the support of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).

The Hevel Group representative said that the company’s projects portfolio currently includes projects for construction of Sarybular solar park (4.95 MW), Kapshagay solar park (3 MW), Kyshata solar park (10 MW) and Shoktas solar park (50 MW), which were obtained by the company in 2019.

The projects portfolio also includes solar parks construction projects in Kazakh Kentau and Shymkent cities the total capacity of which will be 70 MW. Hevel obtained the area for construction of these solar parks as a result of the auction selection of renewable energy projects held in 2019.

“The overall generation capacity of Kazakhstan-based projects of Hevel is 238 MW. The projects will be implemented and commissioned over the period from 2020 till 2021,” the official said.

Hevel Group in the leading Russian vertically integrated company in the solar industry with 10-year experience. The company’s activity is focused on the high-tech manufacturing of solar modules according to the one of the most innovative technologies, full-line service starting from the construction and maintenance of solar power plants to scientific research in the sphere of photovoltaics.

Based on some estimates, country’s potential for solar energy production ranges from 3.9 to 5.4 billion WH per year, whereas the ‘ceiling’ of wind power is 920 billion kWh per year.

As of the end of 2019, 90 RES (renewable energy sources) facilities of 1,050 MW of capacity were operating in Kazakhstan including 19 wind parks (283.8 MW), 31 solar parks (541.7 MW), 37 hydropower plants (222.2 MW) and three biopower plants.

This year, the number of RES facilities is to be increased from 90 to 108 with the total capacity of 1,655 MW.
