Georgia decreases import of oil bitumen year-on-year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18

The import of oil bitumen in Georgia amounted to 7,700 tons in May 2020, which is 4,200 tons or 120 percent more compared to April 2020 (3,500 tons), Trend reports referring to Georgia's Union of Importers of Oil Products.

This figure is 6,500 tons or 45.8 percent less comparing to the same period of the last year (14,200 tons).

According to the union, 59.7 percent (4,600 tons) of oil bitumen has been imported to Georgia from the Republic of Azerbaijan, 24.7 percent (1,900 tons) - from Iraq, 3.9 percent (300 tons) - from Russia, 2.6 percent (200 tons) - from Turkey, 1.3 percent (100 tons) - from Iran, and the remainder accounts for other countries.

From January through May of this year, oil bitumen imports to Georgia amounted to 25,500 tons, which is 18,600 tons or 42.2 percent less comparing to the same period last year (44,100 tons).

Of this, 53.7 percent (13,700 tons) of imports account for Azerbaijan, which is followed by Iran - 28.2 percent (7,200 tons), Iraq - 11.4 percent (2,900 tons), Russia - 1.6 percent (400 tons), the United Emirates - 0.8 percent (200 tons), and Turkey - 0.8 percent (200 tons).
