Electricity production decreases in Georgia in May 2020

The volume of electricity generated in Georgia amounted to 985 million kwh in May 2020, Trend reports via Georgia's Commercial Operator of the Electricity System (ESCO).

As reported, this is 14.6 percent less comparing to May 2019.

At the same time, according to the Commercial Operator of the Electricity System (ESCO), the volume of electricity exported from Georgia last month decreased by 51 percent and amounted to 65 million kwh.

Simultaneously, the volume of electricity imported into the country has increased several times and amounted to 6 million kwh.

Meanwhile, in April 2020, 943.79 kWh of electricity was generated in Georgia, and in April 2019 this figure stood at 964.44 kWh. Georgia received $409.316 million kWh of electricity from Azerbaijan from January through April 2020. This figure is 130.13 million kWh or 24.1 percent less compared to the same period last year.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the country is expected to generate 12.76 billion kWh of electricity in 2020, which is 4.2 percent less than the initial forecast (13.31 billion 317.9 million kWh).
