President: Iran's oil exports no longer depend on Strait of Hormuz

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's crude oil exports no longer depend on the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, Trend reports citing Iranian President Office’s official website.

He made the remark during a video conference with the governors of Iranian provinces.

According to Rouhani, Iran will transport crude oil to the Gulf of Oman by building a 1,000-kilometer Goureh-Jask pipeline.

The construction of the 1,000-kilometer Goureh-Jask oil pipeline project, worth more than $1.8 billion, has been outsourced to local manufacturers and contractors. It is planned to transport 1 million barrels of crude oil per day via the pipeline.

According to the program, the pipeline will be commissioned next year (begins March 21, 2021).

It is also planned to build a 30 million-barrel oil storage facility on 460 hectares at the Iranian Jask oil terminal. As part of this program, a storage facility for 10 million barrels of oil is being built.
