Iran's Shazand Oil Refining Company commissions new plant

A plant producing normal hexane (fuel used in the petrochemical industry) has been put into operation at the Shazand (Imam Khomeini) Oil Refining Company in the Shazand county of Iran's Markazi Province on June 25, Trend reports citing IRINN.

Speaking at the event on this occasion, Executive Director of Shazand Oil Refining Company Gholamhossein Ramazanpour emphasized that the new plant will produce 50,000 tons of normal hexane a year.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh, Deputy Oil Minister, Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company Behzad Mohammadi and other officials attended the event via videoconference

Ramazanpour added that till now, this product was imported to Iran, while the plant commissioning allows saving $30 million a year.

The director said that Iran's polymer and food industries need 30,000 tons of normal hexane a year adding that with the plant commissioning, it is also possible to export 20,000 tons of products annually.

The Shazand (Imam Khomeini) Oil Refining Company was launched in 1993 with the capacity to process 150,000 barrels of oil per day. The company currently processes more than 250,000 barrels of oil.

It also produces more than 17 million liters of gasoline and 12 million liters of diesel in accordance with the Euro 4 standard as well as 500 tons of propylene, 400 tons of granular sulfur and 2,000 tons of liquefied gas per day.
