Electricity generation at thermal power plants (TPPs) of Azerbaijan from January through June 2020 rose by 27.8 million kilowatt-hours compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to slightly over 12 billion kilowatt-hours, Trend reports citing the report of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the report, electricity generation at hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) made up 680.3 million kilowatt-hours, having dropped by 199.9 million kilowatt-hours compared to the same period of last year.
The indicator for other energy sources (wind power stations, solar power stations and household solid waste incinerator) grew by 400,000 kilowatt-hours, reaching 185.9 million kilowatt-hours.
Meanwhile, 54.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated at wind power stations, 23 million kilowatt-hours at solar power stations, and 108.1 million kilowatt-hours at household solid waste incinerator.
Electricity generation by Azerenerji OJSC surpassed 11.5 billion kilowatt-hours in the first half of 2020. Herein, 11 billion kilowatt-hours were generated at TPPs, and 568.4 million kilowatt-hours – at HPPs.
The State Energy Service of Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic generated 195.4 million kilowatt-hours. Meanwhile, 75.8 million kilowatt-hours were generated at TPPs, 99.8 million kilowatt-hours - at HPPs, 19.8 million kilowatt-hours - at solar power stations, and 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours - at other power plants.
In the reporting period, Azerbaijan’s electricity export amounted to 621.1 million kilowatt-hours, which is 52.2 million kilowatt-hours less compared to the same period of 2019. Meanwhile, electricity import of Azerbaijan decreased by 8.8 million kilowatt-hours, compared to the same period of last year, amounting to 71.5 million kilowatt-hours.
