Turkmenistan to build new refinery for synthetic gasoline production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 11

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan is planning to build a gas refinery plant in the country's Akhal region for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan told Trend.

A corresponding memorandum was signed by Turkmengas State Concern on the one side and by Japanese Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. and Sojitz Corporation companies.

A similar plant for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas has already been commissioned in the Akhal region in 2019, the embassy said.

It was built by Turkmengas State Concern in cooperation with Japanese Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. and Turkish Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri Inşaat Sanaýi ve Ticaret A. S.

“Some 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas will be processed to produce 600,000 tons of ESO-93 gasoline and 115,000 tons of liquefied gas every year,” added the embassy.

With using ESO-93 fuel, the content of sulfur oxides in car exhaust gases is reduced by 50 times, nitrogen oxides – by 5 times, carbon monoxide – by 2 times, and hydrocarbons – by 20 percent.

International cooperation in the field of energy is a priority area of Turkmenistan's economic strategy, the embassy noted.
