Turkey increases oil transportation via Batman Dortyol pipeline

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 15

Some 2.4 million barrels of oil were transported via Batman Dortyol oil pipeline through Turkey in June 2020, which is 17.8 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to the statistics data posted on the official website of Turkey’s BOTAS Petroleum Pipeline Corporation.

From January through June 2020, about 12.1 million barrels of oil were transported via the pipeline through Turkey.

In total, 21.5 million barrels of oil were transported via Batman Dortyol pipeline through Turkey in 2019, which is 4.9 percent more than in 2018 (20.4 million barrels).

The oil which is extracted in Batman is transported to the Dortyol seaport (Iskenderun Bay). Batman-Dortyol is the first Turkish oil pipeline and it was commissioned in 1967. It was transferred to BOTAS in 1984. Its annual capacity is 4.5 million tons.
