The state balance of mineral reserves of Uzbekistan includes 2,503 deposits as of January 2020, representative of the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan (GoscomGeology) told Trend in an interview.
According to him 1,136 of these are deposits of construction materials, 810 - of groundwater resources, 277 - of hydrocarbon (oil, gas, condensate), 101 - of precious metals (gold, silver), 12 - non-ferrous and rare metals, 39 - radioactive metals, 50 - mining raw materials, 36 - mining chemical raw materials, 30 - of stones, seven coal and five are ferrous metals deposits.
As was reported earlier, the government of Uzbekistan developed the Program of Development and Reproduction of Mineral Resources Base of Uzbekistan.
Under the program, the committee made analysis of the mineral resource base and assessment of projected resources of the main types of minerals, said the representative.
The program substantiates the directions of prospecting, evaluation and exploration works on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, gold, uranium, hydrocarbons, ground water and other types of minerals for the next few years, he added.
"The program allocates 1.6 trillion soum [$157.1 million] for modernization of technical facilities and equipment, transition to international reporting standards and training of specialists, as well as study and introduction of foreign best practices," said representative.
