Uzbekistan registers new gold, uranium reserves

Some 150 new deposits have been accepted for the state mineral balance of Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan National News Agency.

It was announced during the presentation on efficiency geology modernization conducted by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

As a result of the imports of modern drilling and laboratory equipment, the productivity of drilling operations increased by 25 percent compared to 2019.

"Since the beginning of the year, 150 new fields have been taken on the state balance sheet. Three gold deposits were discovered in the Kuljuktau and Auminzatau mountains in Bukhara and Navoi regions, two uranium deposits in the Kattakurgansky district of Samarkand region, and Arnasai district of Jizzak region," the message said.

In addition, mining and geological data for 32 types of reserves were converted to JORC (Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources, and Ore Reserves) international standards.

As part of measures aimed at agricultural development, 90,000 cubic meters of water per day were confirmed in low-water districts.

The event reviewed the progress in attracting foreign investment in the development of 20 new deposits through open and transparent procedures and online auctions. Instructions were given regarding public-private partnerships in this direction.

The head of the state gave specific instructions on expanding the scope of geological exploration works twice next year, identifying new promising areas, accelerating the introduction of modern laboratory equipment in the sphere.

State Committee of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources was tasked to establish exploration of new areas based on cooperation and further expand the practice of transferring the development of discovered deposits to the private sector.
