SOCAR talks geological work carried out on onshore, offshore fields in 2019

Azneft Production Union, owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) carried out 677 geological operations in 2019, resulting in an increase of oil production volume by 352,800 tons, Trend reports citing SOCAR.

According to SOCAR, 254 geological operations out of those 677 were carried out at the offshore fields, thanks to which 306,000 tons of oil were extracted. At the same time, the remaining 423 geological operations were carried out at the onshore fields.

“Last year, exploratory drilling operations resulting in drilling of 77 wells were conducted at the fields, which is operated Azneft. As much as 253,600 tons of oil and 29.7 million cubic meters of gas were obtained through these wells,” said the company.

SOCAR noted that 11,500 tons of oil were produced from 26 new wells drilled in onshore fields, and 242,100 tons of oil - from 50 new wells drilled in offshore fields.

Azneft is developing 34 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan, 20 of them are in the onshore field, and 14 - in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
