Twelve wells were drilled at the Garadagh and Galmaz underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan in 2019, Trend reports citing a report by Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR.
Eight of these wells were used for gas injection.
The volume of drilling work at the Garadagh gas storage facility reached 16,940 meters, five gas injection wells were drilled and put into operation.
At the same time, the volume of drilling work at the Galmaz gas storage facility reached 13,668 meters, seven wells were drilled and put into operation.
Gas injection into Galmaz and Garadagh gas storage facilities reached 984.9 million cubic meters and 1.3 billion cubic meters, respectively.
The pumping of gas into the Azerbaijani gas storage facilities this year was launched in March.
The volume of gas in the gas storage facilities at the beginning of injection reached 1.2 billion cubic meters.
To date, 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas have been pumped into the gas storage facilities. The volume of gas in gas storage facilities as of August 1, 2020 amounted to 2.9 billion cubic meters.
