Manufacturing enterprises in Uzbekistan in January through August 2020 produced goods worth 183 trillion soums ($17.8 billion), or 82 percent of the total industry, Trend reports referring to the State Committee of Uzbekistan.

The main factors behind the decline in the physical volume of industrial production were the decrease of production by mining and quarrying enterprises (25.7 percent), water supply, sewerage, waste collection, and disposal (8.8 percent), manufacturing industry (0.6 percent).

At the same time, an increase in production in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 11.5 percent was noted.

According to preliminary data, from January through August 2020, enterprises of Uzbekistan manufactured industrial products worth 224 trillion soums ($21.8 billion). The index of the physical volume of industrial production for the same period in 2019 amounted to 94.8 percent.

The index of the physical volume of industrial production is a relative indicator that characterizes the change in the mass of products (amount of work, services) in the compared periods.

The volume of products manufactured by mining and quarrying enterprises in January through August 2020 amounted to 21.5 trillion soums ($2.09 billion), or 9.6 percent of the total industry.

Compared to the same period in 2019, an increase in production of kaolin by 72.7 percent, crushed stone - by 0.7 percent, and oil - by 4.5 percent was recorded.

Meanwhile, the production of gas condensate (34.2 percent), gravel (64.5 percent), natural gas (19.1 percent), coal (6.9 percent) has decreased.
