By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The annual volume of natural gas supplies to China will be increased to 65 billion cubic meters per year in the future, said Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Myratgeldi Meredov, Trend reports with reference to “SNG Today” agency.

Meredov made this remark during XXV “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan” international conference organized by Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas and Turkmennebit State Concerns in partnership with Turkmen Forum.

Turkmenistan currently also supplies natural gas via the Central Asia – Center gas pipeline to Russia, and has all the technical capabilities to supply natural gas in the southern direction.

The construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is currently at the final stage. In total, the total length of the pipeline will be 1,840 kilometers, and it is planned to pass 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

Turkmenistan has remained the leader in pipeline gas supplies to China in August. Most of the gas supplied by the Turkmen side to China was extracted from fields operated by the country’s Turkmengas State Concern.

Also, a new field on the territory of Bagtyyarlyk is being put into operation in the country. The field is being explored and developed by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The volume of investments of CNPC, which has been operating since 2007 in this contract territory in the Eastern part of Turkmenistan, amounted to more than $ 8.2 billion at the beginning of 2020.
