Azerbaijan’s natural gas imports over last two decades

Azerbaijan’s natural gas imports dropped from 1.76 billion cubic meters in 2018 to 1.21 billion cubic meters in 2019, Trend reports citing Eni’s World Gas and Renewables Review 2020.

The country imported 0.28 billion cubic meters of gas in 2000, then increasing this figure to 4.41 billion cubic meters in 2005. From 2010 to 2015 the country didn’t import natural gas. In 2016, Azerbaijan’s natural gas imports stood at 0.29 billion cubic meters, before rising to 2.06 billion cubic meters in 2017.

Azerbaijan’s natural gas consumption has increased from 10.82 billion cubic meters in 2018 to 13.48 billion cubic meters in 2019.

The country’s gas consumption stood at 5.62 billion cubic meters in 2000, as compared to 9.42 billion cubic meters in 2005, according to Eni’s estimates.

In 2010, this figure stood at 9.13 billion cubic meters, before rising to 11.15 billion cubic meters in 2015.

Azerbaijan reduced natural gas consumption 10.93 billion cubic meters in 2016 and 10.62 billion cubic meters in 2017.

Azerbaijan’s natural gas exports stood at 11.55 billion cubic meters in 2019, as compared to 9.68 billion cubic meters in 2018.

The country’s gas exports in 2010 started with 6.04 billion cubic meters, before rising to 7.95 billion cubic meters in 2015.

Azerbaijan reduced gas exports in 2016 to 7.86 billion cubic meters and 8.65 billion cubic meters in 2017.
