The alternative renewable energy power plants in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) generated a total of 10.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020), manager on electricity sales of Gilan Regional Electric Company (GILREC), Mohsen Babazadeh said, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Energy of Iran.
Babazadeh noted that this volume of electricity was generated by 11 stations in Gilan Province over the reporting period.
The manager added that 6 of these stations were combined cycle power plants and 5 – hydroelectric power plants and wind turbines.
According to the statistics of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran, the alternative renewable power plants generated 5.47 billion kilowatt hours of electricity within the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 to October 21).
In addition, the consumption of 1.55 million cubic meters of gas and 1.2 million liters of water were saved. At the same time, the release of 3.69 million tons of greenhouse gases (CO2) were prevented.
