Capacity of Iran's gas storage facilities to increase

The capacity of Iran's gas storage facilities will increase to 6.5 billion cubic meters over the next three years (until March 21, 2023), Executive Director of the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, Bahram Salavati said, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the signing of a contract between the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company and the Khazar Exploration and Production Company of Iran.

The director emphasized that Iran's gas storage facilities have a capacity of 3.25 billion cubic meters, at present.

Salavati added that one of the contracts signed to increase Iran's gas storage facilities is the contract on the Gizil-Tepe gas storage facility in the north-east. There is currently a 20-30-percent progress in the construction work within this contract. The value of this contract is 240 billion rials (about $5.71 million) and 11.5 million euro.

“There are about 600 gas storage facilities in the world. In total, these gas storage facilities can store 400 billion cubic meters of gas,” he noted.

On Dec. 29, the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company and the Khazar Exploration and Production Company of Iran signed a contract on scientific, technical, training and research related to gas reservoirs.
