Kazakhstan reports decrease in production of petroleum, chemical industry products

The volume of oil extraction in Kazakhstan amounted to 85.7 million tons in 2020, which is 5.4 percent less than during 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Industrial manufacturing in the country decreased by 0.7 percent compared to 2019.

Thus, the manufacturing of copper ore amounted to 121.9 million tons, which is 1 percent less compared to the reporting months of 2019. Manufacturing of petrol amounted to 4.5 million tons (decrease by 0.9 percent).

Manufacturing of Portland cement was 10.8 million tons, which is 5.3 percent more than during the same period of 2019. Manufacturing of flat metal was 2.6 million tons (increase by 26.1 percent), of gasoil to 4.7 million tons (decrease by 7 percent), of electricity to 109.2 billion kWh (increase by 2.5 percent).

The committee said that the production of crude oil, natural gas and the production of metal ores decreased in 2020 as compared to 2019.

“The production of foodstuffs, beverages, wood products, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy and mechanical engineering increased. The production of petroleum and chemical industry products decreased,” the report said.
