Lithuanian company to build solar power plant in Georgia

A Lithuanian company will build a solar power plant in Georgian Tbilisi, Trend reports via the company.

Saulės grąža, one of the largest Lithuanian solar energy companies under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania, has signed an agreement with the Environmental Project Management Agency of Georgia.

According to the agreement, a solar power plant will be built in Tbilisi jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The aim of the project is to promote the development of the use of solar electricity and the introduction of new technologies.

At the same time, the Lithuanian project will share its experience with Georgia in the field of renewable energy production. The construction of the solar power plant is scheduled for completion in March 2021.

“The electricity generated by the solar power plant will be used for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Monitoring systems will also be installed to determine the effectiveness of the equipment and to facilitate the assessment of project results. The total capacity of the planned solar power plant will be 300 kilowatts,” says Mindaugas Gerulaitis, CEO of Saulės grąža.

According to him, the project will help mitigate the effects of climate change through the production of solar electricity and the exchange of Lithuanian knowledge/experience.
