Oil extraction from Iran's Surush oil field to grow

The extraction coefficient of Iran's Surush oil field in the Persian Gulf will increase from 6 percent to 10 percent, Rector of the Institute of Oil and Gas Engineering, Sahand University of Technology, Alireza Tabatabaeezadeh told Shana news agency, Trend reports.

According to him, this figure may increase during operations related to increasing the extraction coefficient.

The official added that the research plan for the development of the Surush field will be implemented in pilot mode next Iranian year (as of March 21, 2021).

Iran's Surush oil field operates under the Iranian Offshore Oil Company. As reported, the field contains more than 9 billion barrels of crude oil. The field currently produces 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day. A contract has been signed between Iran's Offshore Oil Company and the Iran's Sahand University of Technology to research the increase in extraction from the field.
