Iran's Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has commissioned two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage facilities at the next refinery of the South Pars Gas Company (SPGC), Managing Director of Iran's Pars Oil & Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Meshkinfam said, Trend reports citing the POGC’s website.
According to Meshkinfam, the total capacity of these storage facilities is 80,000 cubic meters. The capacity of the propane storage facility is 45,000 cubic meters, and the butane storage facility is 35,000 cubic meters.
The director added that the refinery will have 4 storage facilities related to liquefied gas. Two of them will be for propane and two will be butane gas. The total capacity of these storage facilities will be 160,000 cubic meters and will be launched by the end of the current Iranian year (until March 21, 2021).
“In addition, the refinery will have 4 units for sulfur processing. Two processing units are ready and the remaining two units will be ready for put into operation,” he said.
Another - the 12th refinery is being built at the South Pars Gas Company in connection with the refining of rich gas extracted from the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th phases of the SPGC.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran has so far spent $90 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.
As reported, Iran is currently extracting 700 million cubic meters of gas per day from the gas field.
