Azerbaijan's 2020 oil refining volume surpasses forecast - Energy Ministry

Around 5.88 million tons of oil were processed in Azerbaijan in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the report of the country’s Ministry of Energy on the results of 2020.

According to the ministry, the volume of refined oil in 2020 amounted to 172,700 tons, that is, 3 percent more than the forecast.

In 2019, over 6.18 million tons of crude oil were processed at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which is 1.5 percent more than in 2018. At the same time, more than 1.16 million tons of motor gasoline was produced from recycled raw materials, a decrease of 2 percent less year on year.

In December 2020, daily oil production (together with condensate) in Azerbaijan amounted to 688,800 barrels, of which 587,000 barrels fell to the share of crude oil, and 101,800 to condensate.

The oil refining process in the country is carried out at the Heydar Aliyev oil refinery.
