Kazakhstan's Aktau seaport boosts oil handling in 2020

A total of 2.2 million tons were handled in Kazakhstan’s Aktau seaport in 2020, which is 4 percent more compared to 2.1 million tons in 2019, the port’s official told Trend.

The volume of metals and grain transportation dropped significantly year-on-year, i.e. by 77 and 42 percent respectively. Thus, some 11,500 tons of metals were transported through the port in 2020 (46,869 tons in 2019), whereas grain transportation stood at 457,218 tons (794,724 in 2019).

The volume of containers handling in the port was 242,028 tons, which is 31 percent more than 185,157 tons in 2019.

A surge in ferry cargo handling was also observed in the port. Thus, 4,068 tons of ferry cargo were transshipped by the port in 2020, which is 71 percent more than 2,381 tons in 2019.

Currently, three seaports in Kazakhstan render the services to vessels of various tonnage, namely, Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.

Aktau seaport is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea at the intersection of several international transport corridors.

"Bautino" cargo area in the settlement of the same name is a subdivision of JSC "NC" Aktau International Sea Trade Port ".
