Iran's SPGC declares volume of sulfur exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 15

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The Iranian South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) exported 590,000 tons of sulfur during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through January 20, 2021), said Ali Ahmadi,‎ the Head of Coordination and Monitoring of South Pars Gas Company, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official said that the company's plants produced a total of more than 526,000 tons of sulfur over the reporting period.

Ahmadi added that a number of steps are being taken to increase the production of quality products at the company's plants.

“The South Pars Gas Company has fulfilled its obligations on the gas supplying to Iran and no problems have arisen so far,” he said.

The fuel of Iran's South Pars Gas Company is supplied through the South Pars gas field. The company has 11 plants under operation, with a total of 25 phases. The company can process 560 million cubic meters of gas per day and supplies about 70 percent of Iran's gas production.

At the same time, the South Pars Gas Company can produce 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 12,000 tons of ethane, 16,000 tons of LPG, and 2,500 tons of sulfur per day.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran has so far spent $90 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.

As reported, Iran is currently extracting 700 million cubic meters of gas per day from the gas field.
