By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

The volume of petroleum product manufactured in Kazakhstan equaled 1 million tons in January 2021, which is 9.5 percent less than the envisaged plan, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev said, Trend reports citing the press office of Kazakhstan’s government.

The gasoline production amounted to 410,000 tons, which is 8.8 percent less than the January plan. The volume of diesel fuel produced amounted to 326,000 tons or 23 percent less than the plan, aviation fuel production was 35,000 tons, i.e. 8.6 percent less than the January plan.

The reasons for the production bring below the plan is a failure in the supply of electricity to the Atyrau oil refinery. The incident led to the complete and partial failure of the catalytic cracking and reforming units.

“At the same time, despite the decrease in the volume of oil refining and production of petroleum products, the reserves of oil products in the domestic market are at a stable level,” Nogayev said.

In general, as of February 16 of this year, the volume of petroleum products on the domestic market is as follows: gasoline - 251,000 tons with a reserve for 24 days, diesel fuel - 357,000 tons with a reserve for 38 days.

Fuel oil production was not affected by the situation at the Atyrau oil refinery, which amounted to 242,000 tons, which is 16 percent more than the January plan, the minister said.

The petrochemical products production reached 22,700 tons, which is 11.5 percent more than this month’s plan. Electricity generated during the reporting period was 10.9 billion kWh, which meets the plan.
