Uzbekistan increased electricity generation in 2020 by six percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the country's enterprises generated more than 6.42 billion kW / h of electricity during the reported period.
Also in January, Uzbekistan produced about 3.68 million Gcal of heat, which is 0.9 percent less compared to the same period in 2020.
According to the information, Uzbekistan intends to increase the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in the total volume of electricity production to 25 percent by 2030.
It is planned to build solar power plants with a total capacity of 5,000 MW and wind farms with a total capacity of 3,000 MW over the next 10 years. To this end, the Ministry of Energy, with the assistance of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is currently carrying out a set of measures for the competitive selection of investors for the implementation of these projects, which will be implemented through foreign direct investment.
It was noted that Uzbekistan plans to commission two photovoltaic (solar) power plants (PVP) of 100 MW each by the end of 2021.
