SOCAR Turkey increases investments in strengthening remote, efficient working infrastructure

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

One of the priorities of SOCAR Turkey are the ongoing and future projects in information technology and digitalization, Chief Digital Transformation Officer of SOCAR Turkey Hakan Irgit told Trend.

He recalled that the group’s digital transformation journey began with Petkim petrochemical complex in 2018 and continues in all group companies.

“The digitalization process launched in the refining and petrochemical unit in 2018-2019 brought excellent results in our facilities in Aliaga, Izmir. Currently, all business activities are integrated in our company in Aliaga. Petkim and STAR Refinery carry out all the operational processes such as production, planning, optimization and sales with strong information technology infrastructures,” said Irgit.

“Despite the impact of COVID-19, we continued our work on integration of information technologies. Nevertheless, in the light of fluctuations in the oil sector, we reviewed our plans for 2020 and subsequent years. We increased our investments in strengthening remote and efficient working infrastructure. We have started to utilize cloud technologies more effectively in order to respond faster to suddenly increasing workload and infrastructure needs. We started using digital assistants, called Robotic Process Automation (RPA), to reduce our employees' operational burden and enable them to focus more on strategic business. These digital assistants started doing rule-based, high-volume activities.”
