STAR Refinery reduces natural gas consumption

STAR Refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey has increase the annual diesel and jet fuel production by 10 percent, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR.

However, the refinery has reduced the natural gas consumption by 6 percent in 2020 as compared to 2019 and saw 178,000 tons of decrease in carbon emission, while reducing water consumption by 406,000 tons.

All there made a $35 million worth contribution to the refinery’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.

STAR Refinery came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans. The total investment in Star Refinery is expected to stand at $7 billion.

The annual processing capacity of Star Refinery is 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Turkey’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
