BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 17

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Uzbekistan and LUKOIL agreed on the adoption of a roadmap to improve the efficiency of projects and expand strategic cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

It is reported that on March 16, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov.

During the meeting, the president of LUKOIL reported in detail to the head of Uzbekistan on the implementation of priority investment and socially significant projects in the country with the participation of the leading oil and gas company of Russia.

It was noted that today LUKOIL is one of the largest investors in the economy of Uzbekistan. The volume of investments reaches $10 billion.

In addition, the Kandym gas processing plant (the largest production site of LUKOIL in Central Asia) with a processing capacity of over eight billion cubic meters of natural gas operates in Uzbekistan. Also, the development of the Khauzak and Shady deposits, as well as the South-West Gissar is underway.

The parties also paid special attention to the issues of overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of joint projects.

Furthermore, an agreement was reached on the creation of an interdepartmental working group and the adoption of a roadmap to improve the efficiency of projects and expand strategic cooperation with LUKOIL.

Earlier it was reported that LUKOIL reduced gas production in Uzbekistan from February to August 2020 to about 20 percent of its design capacity due to a decrease in demand for Uzbek gas from China amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is reported that starting from September 2020 gas production in Uzbekistan has been restored amid growing demand from China. As a result, in December 2020, the average daily gas production in Uzbekistan reached the design level.
