The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) approved the rules for monitoring and reporting the energy market, Trend reports via Georgian media.
The purpose of the rules is to create effective mechanisms for regulating competitive, free, transparent and fair trade in the energy market, effective regulation of market and system operators, as well as to promote the implementation of state policy in the field of integration of the energy market and energy at the regional level.
In accordance with the rules for monitoring and reporting on the energy market, in order to ensure a competitive environment in the energy market, GNERC will be guided by the requirements of the Law of Georgia on Competition, as well as control the integrity of the wholesale energy market and transparency.
GNERC will monitor the implementation of the rules through the Market Monitoring Department, which was established by the Commission in December 2020 in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Energy and Water Supply.
