By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The Ministry of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan intends to hold negotiations with Turkmenistan on the supply of gas, Trend reports with reference to 24.kg news agency.

This was announced at a meeting of Kazakh Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) on the fuel and energy sector and subsoil use by the Minister of Energy and Industry of the country Kubanychbek Turdubaev.

"In order to reduce the price of gas for subscribers, we intend to supply it at a lower price. We are negotiating with Uzbekistan and plan to discuss the issue with Turkmenistan. We have the technical capabilities to do this," he said.

As reported, Kyrgyzstan earlier was also interested in importing Turkmen liquefied gas. The country also negotiated with the state Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan to find opportunities to increase trade.

Previously, the leadership of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan considered proposals to stimulate entrepreneurship and investment cooperation.

In the first seven months of 2019, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan amounted to $6.5 million, as entrepreneurs mainly cooperated in the trade sphere.

Tourism, transport, logistics and agriculture were also identified as promising areas of cooperation.

Turkmenistan supplies fresh tomatoes, bakery and flour products, textiles, and pipes to Kyrgyzstan. In turn, Kyrgyzstan exports lamps, plastic films and tapes, and machinery for the textile industry to Turkmenistan.
