Gas consumption in Iran increases

The natural gas consumption in Iran increased by 8 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Caretaker of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Shana news agency, Trend reports.

According to the official, Iran consumed 233 billion cubic meters of gas in the last Iranian year.

Joulaei added that so, 122 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed by housing, trade and small industrial facilities, 24 billion cubic meters by large industrial facilities and 66 billion cubic meters by power plants last year.

“An average of 181 million cubic meters of gas were supplied to power plants daily in the last Iranian year. While in the preceding year, this figure was an average of 167 million cubic meters daily,” he said.

Joulaei emphasized that a total of 262 billion cubic meters of gas was pumped into Iran's gas network in the last Iranian year. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.

The company official noted that gas consumption in Iran over the past 24 hours was 606 million cubic meters.
