BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 22

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The implementation of a project related to collect flare gas from the Cheshmeh Khosh oil field in Ilam Province (western Iran) has been launched, said Ahmad Rajabi, the technical affairs director of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), Trend reports citing the ICOFC’s website.

According to the project, a flare gas collection unit and a gas condensate production unit will be put into operation in the Cheshmeh Khosh oil field until 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 23, 2021). Thus, the collection of flare gas will be launched, Rajabi said.

The director added that as of 7th month, daily 67 million cubic feet (about 1.9 million cubic meters) of flare gas will be collected from this field in the first stage over 6 months.

“The collection of these gases will bring in about $5 million per year,” he noted.

It is estimated that Iran's Cheshmeh Khosh oil field contains 2.24 billion barrels of crude oil. A total of 460 million barrels of crude oil were extracted from this field by the end of 11th month of the last Iranian year (February 18, 2021).

About 75,000 barrels of crude oil and about 115 million cubic meters of gas are currently extracted from this field daily. It is planned to reach crude oil extraction from this field 95,000 barrels daily.
