By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia is perceived by Poland as a leader of changes and commitment to European integration among the Eastern Partnership countries, the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Poland told Trend.

"Poland has traditionally friendly relations with Georgia. We are open to cooperation and sharing Poland's experience in reforming the energy sector, in particular in the implementation of the EU and Energy Community regulations," the ministry said.

According to the source, this cooperation has been and is being implemented on a bilateral and multilateral level, among others within the Eastern Partnership.

"In the years 2018-2019, meetings were held with the representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Georgian Energy Development Fund – as part of the Tbilisi Conference – where Poland shared experiences in the energy market reform, the creation of a power exchange, preparation of the RES auctions as well as in the development of coal bed methane extraction (CBM) technology," the ministry said.

As part of meetings with Polish entrepreneurs, among others, green technologies for solar panels and hydropower were presented, the source said.

"In addition, under the Eastern Partnership, representatives from Georgia participated in the works of the sector group regarding LNG. During the 4th expert workshops, organized on the initiative of Poland, participants had the opportunity to discuss various aspects of the functioning of the LNG market," the ministry noted.
