National Iranian Drilling Company starts drilling operations on Siyah Makan oil field

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has started drilling operations with the “Fath 40” heavy drilling rig to maintain and increase extraction from the Siyah Makan oil field in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province (southwestern Iran), an official of the NIDC Majed Mousavi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Mousavi noted that earlier, the NIDC has also carried out drilling work in this field with the "Fath 93" drilling rig.

The official added that the drilling operations are being carried out within a project of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) on development of 28 oil reservoirs, and the NIDC will drill four wells in the Siyah Makan oil field.

“The “Fath 40” drilling rig has been under the control of the NIDC since 2002, and so far, a total of 119,000 meters of drilling work has been carried out in 40 oil and gas wells via this drilling rig,” he said.

A reservoir of the Gachsaran oil field in Iran's Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province (southwestern Iran) has been named the Siyah Makan oil field by Iran.

A contract worth 34 million euro has been signed between the NISOC and the Pasargad Energy Development Company (PEDC) on the development of this field.

According to the contract, extraction from this field will reach daily 10,000 barrels. At present, daily 4,000 barrels of crude oil are extracted from the field.
