Kazakhstan launches construction of gas processing plant on Kashagan field

Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin checked the implementation progress of large investment projects in the petrochemical and petroleum engineering industries within his working trip to the Atyrau region, Trend reports referring to the government's press service.

Mamin launched the construction of a gas processing plant - a complex gas treatment unit - at the Kashagan field.

The enterprise’s processing capacity will amount to nearly 1 billion cubic meters of raw sulfur dioxide per year, from which 815 million cubic meters of commercial and 119,000 tons of liquefied gas, 212,000 tons of sulfur and 35,000 tons of gas condensate will be produced.

Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for 4Q2023. The project will give impetus to the development of the country's gas processing industry, allowing increase the level of oil production at Kashagan to 450,000 barrels per day, expand the resource base for further gas supply of the country and improve the environmental friendliness of oil and gas production.

During the construction period, up to 2,500 temporary jobs will be created here, and during the operation period - 600 permanent jobs.
