Turkmenistan - main gas supplier to China in April 2021

Turkmenistan was the leading country in terms of gas supply to China in April 2021, with 2.6 billion cubic meters, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

Kazakhstan took the second place with 617 million cubic meters, followed by Russia – 487 million cubic meters, Myanmar – 318 million cubic meters and Uzbekistan – 229 million cubic meters.

In general, China imported 4.2 billion cubic meters of gas in April 2021.

Most of the gas supplied by the Turkmen side to China was extracted from fields operated by the country’s Turkmengas State Concern.

Also, a new field on the territory of Bagtyyarlyk is being put into operation in the country. The field is being explored and developed by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The volume of investments of CNPC, which has been operating since 2007 in this contract territory in the Eastern part of Turkmenistan, amounted to more than $ 8.2 billion at the beginning of 2020.
